sculpting

my DPhil thesis is like sculpting.

I have a big rock in front of me; I have already decided the basic shape and cut off some pieces. I have most of the tools and I am waiting to acquire a couple more for refined procedures. I have to work part by part simultaneously, smoothing the edges, creating some pieces. It is a slow process that requires patience and imagination and determination. I have to be careful to not break the whole piece.

Little by little, a masterpiece is arising from that brick.
